Saud Shakeel registered his third test century in the first test against Bangladesh.
The first test between Pakistan and Bangladesh got underway on Wednesday at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl first. The hosts had a nightmarish of a start as they lost their first three wickets for just 16 runs in 8.2 overs.
It included a big wicket by Babar Azam, who was dismissed for a two-ball duck. Bangladesh were on top, but Pakistan bounced back well thanks to a 98-run stand for the fourth wicket between Saud Shakeel and Saim Ayub.
This stand set a platform for the other batters and Pakistan are in the driver’s seat now. As per the latest update, Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan have notched up their respective centuries and have added over 200 runs together for the fifth wicket.

Saim Ayub got out after scoring 56 off 98, which was his maiden test fifty. After that, vice-captain Saud Shakeel carried on and registered yet another three-figure score – his third in test cricket in his 11th test. During his innings, the southpaw went on to equal an all-time Pakistani record.
Shakeel has gotten off to a memorable start to his test career. He has already notched up three centuries, including a double hundred, and six half-centuries in 20 innings. During this knock, he also equalled the 65-year-old record of Saeed Ahmed for the fastest batter to reach 1000 test runs for Pakistan.
Saeed Ahmed took 20 innings to score 1000 test runs and he achieved this feat in January 1958. Shakeel has gone past Pakistan’s greats like Javed Miandad and Sadiq Mohammad on this list.
