India have not travlled to Pakistan for the last 15 years since the 2008 Asia Cup.

The battle between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) looks unending. Now, former players have also jumped into the debate. Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad has suggested the Pakistan Cricket Board not travel to India for any game. Pakistan will be travelling to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023 scheduled to be played in October and November. The tussle between the two boards began when India refused to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup in September due to rising security concerns in the country. Later, Pakistan also threatened to Boycott Cricket World Cup in India.

Miandad wants Pakistan to not travel India

Former Pakistan captain Miandad suggested that Pakistan should not travel to India until they come to play in Pakistan. Javed Miandad said, “Pakistan has been to India in 2012 and 2016, now it is the turn of India to come here. If I had to make a decision, I would never go to India to play any match even in the World Cup. We are always ready to play them but they never respond in the same manner”. According to Miandad Pakistan cricket will not be in trouble if they refuse to travel to India. He added, “Pakistan cricket is bigger… we are still producing great players so I don’t think even if we don’t go to India it will make any difference to us”

India had not travelled to Pakistan for the last 15 years. While Pakistan had toured India twice after the 2008 Mumbai attack. Pakistan played a bilateral series in 2012-13 and then came to play in the World T20 tournament in 2016. India had refused to tour Pakistan or to be involved in any bilateral series after the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attack by Pakistan. Pakistan will be hosting Asia Cup in a hybrid model as majority of the games will be played in Sri Lanka. The Asia Cup will begin on 31st August and the Final will be played on 17th September. Miandad also said that Cricket can bring the two countries together and remove their misunderstandings and grievances for a better future.
