Mohammad Rizwan’s first assignment as Pakistan’s new white-ball captain will be the tour of Australia in November.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan as Pakistan’s new white-ball captain. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi made the announcement at a press conference in Lahore on October 27 while naming the squads to tour Australia and Zimbabwe for white-ball matches.
During the press conference, the PCB chairman also named all-rounder Salman Agha as their new vice-captain in white-ball formats.
Rizwan will take over the leadership responsibilities from Babar Azam, who stepped down from the role following Pakistan’s poor show in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Rizwan’s first assignment as the new Pakistan white-ball captain will be the tour of Australia. The Men in Green are scheduled to play three ODIs and as many T20Is against Australia from November 4.
Rizwan will also lead Pakistan during their away ODI series against Zimbabwe but has been rested from the T20Is, where Agha will don the captain’s hat. The three-ODI series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe will begin on November 24, which will followed by three T20Is.
