Mohammad Abbas enrolled his name among Pakistani elites with massive milestone at Lord’s.
The rivalry between Pakistan and England has produced some memorable Test matches, and several of those have been played at Lord’s, the historic venue, often called the home of cricket. Both these teams have relished several memorable moments on the ground, including some famous wins for Pakistan backed by some outstanding bowling performances.
Lord’s has also provided the backdrop for some of Pakistan’s greatest fast-bowling displays. Ever since the inaugural years of Pakistani cricket to the recent era, seamers have repeatedly exploited the friendly English conditions and have produced some historic moments in Test cricket.

The latest chapter in Pakistan’s Test history came during the second Test of the ongoing Test series. Pakistan’s bowling attack produced an impressive performance despite the team’s batting struggles, with one experienced seamer eventually achieving the massive milestone.
Mohammad Abbas finally earned a place on the Lord’s honours board after completing a five-wicket haul against England in the second innings of the second Test. He had missed it after having come close to the milestone when he claimed 4/23, 4/41 and 4/73 on three previous occasions at this ground. He also equaled Waqar Younis’ record of 17 wickets, the most by a Pakistani pacer in Test cricket at Lord’s.
The Pakistan pacer has a unique record of having picked eight five-wicket hauls in Test cricket, six of which came against six different oppositions. He was once verbal about putting his name on that Lord’s honours board, for which he had to wait for a long span of eight years.
In the last 34 years of Pakistan cricket, the Asian giants have seen the rise of many legendary pacers. The likes of Wasim Akram, Mohammad Asif, Abdur Razzaq and Shaheen Afridi have represented Pakistan with the red ball.
However, at the iconic venue of Lord’s, Mohammad Amir and now Mohammad Abbas remain the only Pakistani pacers to have picked a five-wicket haul in a Test innings since 1992. Amir’s five-wicket haul came during his first tour of England in 2010, where he picked 6/84, becoming the fifth Pakistani bowler with the record milestone.
Mohammad Abbas in 2026 became the seventh Pakistan bowler and only the fifth pacer to have reached the milestone at Lord’s.
