The first test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be played from August 21 to 25.
The Pakistan cricket team have announced their playing XI for the first test against Bangladesh of the two-match test series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. The first test between the two nations will get underway on August 21.
Ace speedster Naseem Shah is set to make his much-awaited return to test cricket. The right-arm speedster has been named in Pakistan’s playing XI for the first test against Bangladesh. The 21-year-old last played test cricket against Sri Lanka in July 2023.
The selectors have also shown faith in young batter Saim Ayub as he will open alongside Abdullah Shafique.
Pakistan skipper Shan Masood will bat at the number three spot followed by the former test captain Babar Azam at No. 4. Vice-captain Saud Shakeel is slotted in the fifth position. Wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan and batter Salman Ali Agha will follow Shakeel in the line-up.
Pakistan will be going with an all-pace attack in the first test match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. Left-arm speedster Shaheen Afridi will lead the pace attack with Naseem Shah, Khurram Shahzad and Mohammad Ali in support.
Pakistan were hit with a blow when Aamer Jamal was ruled out of the series. Jamal, who was Pakistan’s best player on the Australia tour, has been dealing with back injury issues over the last few months and will need more time to recover.
This PAK vs BAN test series is part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023/25.
