Pakistan’s record in SENA Tests worsened further after their 3-0 defeat against England in 2026.
Pakistan’s poor performance in Test cricket outside Asia has reached an alarming level. The latest defeat against England added another painful note to Pakistan’s record in SENA countries in recent years.
Pakistan‘s tour of England started with England winning the opening match by an innings and 103 runs. The two teams then moved to Lord’s for the next match; England won the second clash by a massive margin of 194 runs. This ended Pakistan’s hopes, as they lost the series.
The latest series has exposed problems across Pakistan’s batting, bowling and team stability. They failed to post 200 in either innings of the opening Test, while their top order repeatedly struggled to build partnerships.
Pakistan crossed the 200-run mark only once, and that too in the second innings of the final Test played at Edgbaston.
Pakistan are no longer in contention for the ICC World Test Championship final. Playing in SENA nations – South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia – they have had an awful record.

Pakistan have now gone 19 consecutive Tests in SENA countries without a victory; they have suffered 17 defeats while two matches ended in a draw.

The sequence stretches back to Pakistan’s last SENA victory, which came against England at Lord’s in 2018. Since then, Pakistan have repeatedly faced disappointment on overseas tours. This implies that they have not won a single match in SENA countries over the last eight years.
Babar Azam, the Pakistan skipper, was reappointed, replacing Shan Masood as the captain of the Test side. However, his appointment has not helped Pakistan improve their performance in the longest format of the game.
Pakistan’s SENA record points towards a deeper problem in their Test structure, preparation and ability to adapt to unfamiliar conditions.
While Wasim Akram questioned Pakistan’s ability across all three departments, including batting, bowling and fielding, former coach Jason Gillespie questioned the PCB’s credibility.
For a nation with such a powerful Test history, 19 Tests in SENA countries without a single win seems strategically humiliating. Pakistan now need far more than just another round of selection changes to turn their fortunes around in the longest format of the game.
