Pakistan will play a two-match test series against West Indies.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unveiled 15-member squad on Saturday, January 11, for Pakistan‘s upcoming home test series against West Indies. Pakistan will host West Indies for a two-match test series starting on January 17. This series will also mark the conclusion of Pakistan’s campaign in ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle.
Pakistan’s recent tour of South Africa ended in a 0-2 defeat, but there were plenty of positives for the team. In the first match, Pakistan fought hard before narrowly losing by two wickets. In the second game, they showed great character, forcing the Proteas to bat again after trailing by over 400 runs in the first innings.
They have now made seven changes to their test squad for home series against West Indies. Off-spinner Sajid Khan and Abrar Ahmed have been recalled to join Noman Ali, while openers Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Huraira will replace injured Saim Ayub and out-of-form Abdullah Shafique.
In the fast bowling department, Aamir Jamal, Mohammad Abbas, Mir Hamza, and Naseem Shah have all been rested. In their place, the selectors have recalled Mohammad Ali and included uncapped Kashif Ali.
Both games of the test series will be played in Multan. While Pakistan have already been eliminated from the WTC final race, they will aim to secure victories and head into the ICC Champions Trophy with a boost in morale.
