Pakistan will play all of their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 matches in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan Women are all set to skip the opening ceremony of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India. According to reports from Pakistani news outlet Geo News, neither Pakistan Women’s captain Fatima Sana nor any other team representative will attend the ceremony in India.
The grand opening ceremony of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will be held in Guwahati on September 30 ahead of the tournament opener between India Women and Sri Lanka Women. Renowned Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal will perform during the event.
The decision might be due to a recent policy between India and Pakistan, where both nations have agreed not to cross borders for ICC tournaments for the next three years. In the aftermath of Pahalgam terror attack in April and Operation Sindoor in May, bilateral ties between both countries have been severely affected.
Pakistan Women to play all of their games in Colombo
Notably, Pakistan Women will not play any of their games in India during ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. They will play all of their games at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Moreover, if they advance to the semi-finals or final, then those games will also be played in Colombo. Pakistan Women and India Women will clash on October 5 during the tournament. The final of the tournament will be played on November 2.
Notably, the Indian men’s team refused to play in Pakistan during ICC Champions Trophy 2025 earlier this year. All of their games were held in Dubai.
Meanwhile, ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will witness a clash among eight teams. India Women, Pakistan Women, Sri Lanka Women, Bangladesh Women, Australia Women, New Zealand, England Women, and South Africa Women will compete for the prestigious title.
