WI vs AUS: Pat Cummins breaks 62-year-old record; Becomes Australian captain with most test wickets

Pat Cummins picked up two wickets in the first innings of the ongoing WI vs AUS test.
Australian Cricket Team skipper Pat Cummins has achieved a massive feat in the history of the game. The premier pacer became the Australian captain with the most wickets in the longest format of the game, going past Richie Benaud’s tally of 138 wickets.
Pat Cummins achieved the feat in the ongoing first test between the West Indies Cricket Team and the Australian Cricket Team. The opening game of the three-match series between the teams is taking place in Bridgetown, Barbados, commencing on June 25th.
Pat Cummins, who is one of the best pacers going around world cricket, lived up to the expectations in the ongoing game against the West Indies. The pacer bowled impeccable lines and lengths in the first innings and troubled the opposition batters, keeping his team in the hunt.
Pat Cummins picked up two wickets in the game, removing Keacy Karty and his West Indies counterpart Roston Chase. The Australian captain returned with the figures of 2/34 in the 18 overs that he bowled as his team didn’t let the opposition take a big lead.
With his two wickets in the first innings, Pat Cummins now has 139 wickets as captain in the format. In the 35 games, he boasts an average of 22.84 and has also bagged nine five-wicket hauls along with one ten-wicket match haul.

Coming to the first test between the West Indies and Australia, the Pat Cummins-led team are ahead in the game. After opting to bat, they didn’t have a great outing in the first innings as they got all out for 180 runs. However, they didn’t let the opposition score big as well, ending their innings on 190.
In the second innings, Australia have taken a lead of 82 runs but has lost four wickets. At stumps on day two, they were 90 for four with Travis Head and Beau Webster at the crease.
