IPL 2025: Pat Cummins, Travis Head likely to return for remainder of the tournament - Reports

Pat Cummins is the captain of SRH in IPL 2025.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins and star batsman Travis Head are likely to return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Notably, both the Australian players left IPL 2025 after it was suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on May 9.
BCCI suspended the tournament for a week due to the escalation of military tensions between India and Pakistan in border regions. However, the BCCI announced a revised schedule for the remainder of the tournament on Monday, May 12.
IPL 2025 will restart on May 17 with the opening game between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). All 17 remaining games will be played across six shortlisted venues. The IPL 2025 final will now take place on June 3 instead of May 25.
Pat Cummins and Travis Head are likely to rejoin the SRH squad
Notably, Cummins and Head are part of Australia’s squad for the forthcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final. Cummins will also lead the Australian team in the crucial test match against South Africa. It will commence on June 11 at Lord’s in London, England.
However, both of them are very likely to join the SRH squad for the remaining matches of IPL 2025. Sunrisers will play three more games in the tournament. They will face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 19 in Lucknow, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 23 in Bengaluru, and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 25 in Delhi.
Since SRH are already eliminated from the race to the playoffs, they will play their final game against KKR on May 25. Notably, Cummins and Head were going to be part of IPL 2025 till May 25, which was the earlier date for the completion of the tournament.
Hence, the revised schedule does not affect their availability in IPL 2025 or ICC WTC 2023-25 final preparations. However, there are no updates on the return of other overseas members like Heinrich Klaasen, Eshan Malinga, Kamindu Mendis, and Wiaan Mulder.
Meanwhile, the Pat Cummins & Co. languish at the eighth spot in the points table with seven points. They have won three games and lost seven out of 11. Other than SRH, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are the other two teams to be eliminated from the playoffs race.
