Phil Salt scored 48 off 14 deliveries including seven fours and three sixes.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are currently taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 36th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on April 21, 2024. This encounter is being played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and is a crucial match for both teams.

RCB were destroyed by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their last game at home, as they conceded the highest IPL total ever of 287/3. On the other hand, KKR were robbed of a brilliant win at home by Jos Buttler of Rajasthan Royals, thanks to his amazing century.

Now RCB came into this match at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table, while SRH’s crushing win over Delhi Capitals resulted in them rocketing to the second spot and pushing KKR to the third spot.

Faf du Plessis, the RCB captain won the toss and chose to bowl first. For RCB, Mohammed Siraj, Karn Sharma, and Cameron Green came into the XI. KKR came into the side with an unchanged XI from the last game.

Phil Salt gives KKR a flying start, hammers Lockie Ferguson for 28 runs in an over

After being asked to bat first, KKR opener Phil Salt unleashed incredible carnage against RCB paceman Lockie Ferguson, leaving RCB in a salty predicament at the Eden Gardens. Salt started with a six, followed by two fours. He then hit the fourth ball of the over for a six and then repeated the boundary sequence.

The 6,4,4,6,4,4 sequence in the 36th match of the ongoing KKR vs RCB series exemplified Salt’s batting power. Salt scorched his way to 48 runs off only 13 balls, with all six of Ferguson’s overs hitting the boundary ropes.

The ferocity of Phil Salt’s onslaught had spectators stunned and RCB searching their heads for solutions.

Here is the video:

Just as Phil Salt was looking good to equal the record for the fastest fifty by a KKR batter, Mohammed Siraj dismissed the KKR wicket-batter keeper just two runs shy of his milestone. However, Salt had done his work, adding 56 runs for the opening wicket in just 4.2 overs, giving KKR a good platform to launch from.
