Top five player battles to watch out for in DC vs GT match No. 40 in IPL 2024

Match No. 40 of the IPL 2024 will see a DC vs GT clash on Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

The next game in the rivalry week of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will be played between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT). This will be the second game between these two teams this season. Last time, DC dismissed GT for their lowest score of 89 runs.

1. Shubman Gill vs Anrich Nortje

Shubman Gill has been GT’s best batter this season and has scored the most runs for them in the tournament. He has been in good form, and he will have responsibility on this shoulders. However, he will have to face Anrich Nortje, who has troubled him. In the IPL, the South African quick bowled 22 balls to Gill, dismissing him three times. He has conceded only 34 runs to the batter.

2. David Warner vs Sai Kishore

David Warner is already in bad form this season. He is struggling to give DC good starts, but because of his stature, his team will hope for his comeback. Warner can win games on his own on his day, and DC will hope that his day comes in the coming game. But he will be up against Sai Kishore, who is coming off a brilliant spell against PBKS. He bowls quickly and varies his speed, which makes it hard to pick him. 

3. Jake Fraser-McGurk vs Rashid Khan

Jake Fraser-McGurk has been superb for DC since his debut. He smashed a 14-ball fifty in the last against SRH while chasing a massive score. He will be looking to keep up that form and play another impactful innings in the coming game. He smashed a 10-ball 20 against GT in their last meet. He can be destructive, which is why GT will use their best bowler, Rashid Khan against him. He will be a very hard bowler to score runs off, and it will be an exciting battle because both are aggressive in their skills.

4. Rishabh Pant vs Noor Ahmad

Rishabh Pant looked rusty in the last game against SRH, when DC were chasing 267 runs. He played at a strike rate of 130, which didn’t help the cause. We all know how dangerous he can be with the bat once he starts hitting. Pant will be looking to take his team to victory. However, he will have to face Noor Ahmad, who has been a consistent performer for GT. It will be a good battle between these two.

5. David Miller vs Kuldeep Yadav

David Miller made his comeback in the last game after missing a few games due to an injury. But he got out cheaply. The left-hander is a very important batter in this lineup who plays impactful innings to win matches in crucial situations. But it won’t be easy for him, especially against Kuldeep Yadav. The wrist spinner has dismissed him three times in international cricket in 75 balls. In the IPL, he has bowled 22 balls to Miller, conceded 26 runs, and dismissed him once.
