Top five player battles to watch out for in DC vs MI match No. 43 in IPL 2024
Match No. 43 of the IPL 2024 will be a DC vs MI clash on Saturday afternoon at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Fans will be treated to two big matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Saturday. It will start with a big game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI). Almost 440 runs were made when the two teams met last time earlier this season.
MI won that game, and now DC will look to make it 1-1 this season. MI have six points in 8 games, and DC have 8 in nine. So a win here will be very important for both teams. There will be some key battles between the players of both teams in this DC vs MI clash.
DC vs MI: Head-to-Head
MI and DC have faced each other 34 times in the IPL. MI are ahead with 19 wins as compared to 15 wins for DC.
DC vs MI: Top five player battles to watch out for
1. Rohit Sharma vs Axar Patel
Rohit Sharma is coming off a low score in the last game and will be keen to play an impactful innings here. He is the highest run-scorer for MI this season and has given quick starts. He scored a 27-ball 49 last time against DC. But he doesn’t have great numbers against Axar Patel. The left-arm spinner has troubled him. Axar has bowled 69 balls to Rohit and dismissed him three times, while the former MI captain has scored only 63 runs at a strike rate of 91.3.
2. Suryakumar Yadav vs Anrich Nortje
Anrich Nortje has leaked runs this season a lot. He has bowled approximately 7-8 overs with more than 20 runs or more. Last time, he conceded 65 runs against MI. However, he has good numbers against MI’s key batter, Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar is very dangerous if he gets going, and he can single-handedly take the game away. But against Nortje, he has only scored 18 runs off 15 balls in the IPL and gotten out two times.
3. Rishabh Pant vs Jasprit Bumrah
Rishabh Pant smashed a quick-fire 88 off 43 in the last game against Gujarat Titans, and he will be looking to do it again. One key aspect of his batting in the last game was how he scored runs in the last few overs. But can he do it against Jasprit Bumrah? Well, this will be a certain challenge. Bumrah has bowled 43 balls to him and dismissed him six times, with only 48 runs scored by Pant.
4. Jake Fraser-McGurk vs Gerald Coetzee
Jake Fraser-McGurk has been incredible for DC at top of the order. His ultra-aggressive approach has helped his team as well, and that is why he will continue to be in the playing XI. His ability to hit sixes against pacers and spinners make him a key player. But can he do it against a bowler who bowls over 150 kmh consistently? It will surely be a battle to watch out for between him and Gerald Coetzee, who has bowled well this season.
5. Ishan Kishan vs Kuldeep Yadav
Ishan Kishan has been giving MI good starts. The southpaw has scored quick runs in the powerplay, and that can put his team on top in the DC vs MI clash on Saturday. But he will be challenged by Kuldeep Yadav. Ishan has faced 25 balls from Kuldeep and scored 46 runs at a strike rate of 184, but he also lost his wicket twice.
