Match No. 56 of the IPL 2024 will be a DC vs RR clash on Tuesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The playoffs stage is not far away in the ongoing India Premier League (IPL) 2024. But the competition in the middle has intensified a bit. The next match is very important in this context. Rajasthan Royals (RR), who have 16 points, will face Delhi Capitals (DC).

This match will be held at the Arun Jatiley Stadium in Delhi on May 7 (Tuesday). DC need to win this game to stay in the playoffs race and can’t afford a defeat. Meanwhile, RR will become the first team to qualify for the playoffs if they win this game.

DC vs RR: Head-to-Head

RR have already beaten DC once this season. These teams have faced each other 28 times in total, with RR having a two-game lead having won 15 matches, while DC have 13 wins.

DC vs RR: Top five player battles to watch out for

1. Jos Buttler vs Kuldeep Yadav

Jos Buttler is likely to be the impact player for RR if they bowl first. Buttler has been pretty good this season and has two centuries to his name. If he gets set, he makes it count with a big knock. DC don’t have a threatening pace attack, and Buttler can utilize it. But he will be up against Kuldeep Yadav, who has dismissed him thrice in international cricket. Buttler has scored 74 runs off 49 balls from Kuldeep in the IPL, while the wrist spinner has dismissed him twice, including once earlier this season.

2. Sanju Samson vs Axar Patel

Sanju Samson will be a massive wicket in the game for DC. He has been scoring runs consistently in the ongoing season apart from Royals’ last match, where he bagged a duck. He also has been scoring runs at a good strike rate. The RR skipper has scored 385 runs at a strike rate of 159.09. Samson has a good record against DC bowlers, except for Axar Patel. He has faced 60 balls off Axar and scored 67 runs, at a strike rate of 111.7 while getting dismissed twice.

3. Rishabh Pant vs Yuzvendra Chahal

Rishabh Pant has been in great form and is scoring runs pretty well. He will look to take his team to another victory and get two important points on the board. Pant has 398 runs so far at a strike rate close to 160. But his strike rate against Yuzvendra Chahal is a bit lower, around 140. Chahal has also dismissed him twice in the IPL, including once in the last match earlier this season.

4. Jake Fraser-McGurk vs Trent Boult

Jake Fraser-McGurk will be a big wicket in the game because the way he plays, he can take the game away from the opposition within first six overs. If he stays until the end of powerplay, he will ensure DC score big. However, he will have to face the threat of Trent Boult, who is an absolute beast with the ball in the powerplay and especially, in the very first over. Boult has been picking wickets with the new ball consistently and that will be an excellent battle to watch out for in the DC vs RR clash.

5. Yashasvi Jaiswal vs Mukesh Kumar

Yashasvi Jaiswal is coming off a good fifty in the last game. But he failed to win the game for his team. The left-hander will look to do the unfinished business in the coming game. But the early phase will be challenging for him. His numbers against Mukesh Kumar are poor. He has faced 9 balls from him, scored seven runs, and gotten out two times already.
