Top five player battles to watch out for in GT vs KKR match No. 63 in IPL 2024

Match No. 63 of the IPL 2024 will host a GT vs KKR clash on Monday in Ahmedabad.

Only a few matches are left to be played in the group stage of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. But some teams are still fighting for a place in the playoffs. The next game will see a clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday.

This match will be played at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. KKR are already through to the next round, and they will look to continue the winning momentum with them. Meanwhile, GT maintained their hopes for the playoffs with a win against CSK in their last game, and they need to win this game here to again keep their hopes alive for playoffs qualification.

This is the first game between GT and KKR this season. Prior to this, these teams had played three matches against each other. GT have registered two wins as compared to one win for KKR.

1. Phil Salt vs Umesh Yadav

Phil Salt has been the one of the best batters for KKR this season, and he is giving them some destructive stats at top of the order. He will look to do something similar in the coming GT vs KKR clash on Monday. Meanwhile, he will be facing former KKR star Umesh Yadav with the new ball. Umesh bowls a heavy length and has good Yorker in his armor. His slower ones can be effective with the new ball. Salt got out in the last game on a slower one from Nuwan Thushara.

2. Sunil Narine vs Rashid Khan

One of the most exciting battles will be when Sunil Narine and Rashid Khan are up against each other in two innings. Narine has been in tremendous form and is having his best season with the bat. Though Rashid has had average performances so far but he is a match-winner on his day. Rashid has dismissed Narine twice in 15 balls in the IPL, while Narine has hit him for 25 runs.

3. Andre Russell vs Mohit Sharma

We all know what Andre Russell is capable of doing with the bat on his day. There are not many players who can match his power-hitting. Russell might be required with the bat and can single-handedly demolish GT. But can he hit Mohit Sharma, who bowls different types of slower ones? Mohit will be a tough bowler to face, and it will be an exciting battle to watch out for in the match.

4. Shubman Gill vs Sunil Narine

Shubman Gill slammed a 50-ball ton in GT’s last game against CSK. He will be feeling very confident heading into this game. His numbers in Ahmedabad are phenomenal, and he will have the responsibility of taking his team to a good position. But he has found it tough to bat against Narine. He has faced 13 balls from Narine and gotten out two times already in the IPL.

5. Sai Sudharsan vs Varun Chakravarty

Sai Sudharsan has been the best batter for GT this season and has scored over 500 runs in the IPL 2024. The left-hander also scored a 50-ball century in the last game and showed that he can also play at a 200 strike rate. However, he will be up against different kinds of bowlers from KKR. Especially Varun Chakravarty, who is on roll. Varun has won 2 MOTM awards in his last five matches and is bowling well. So it will be an important battle in the GT vs KKR clash.
