Top five player battles to watch out for in MI vs DC match No. 20 in IPL 2024
Match No. 20 of the IPL 2024 will host a MI vs DC battle on Sunday afternoon at Wankhede Stadium.
It is time for an exciting battle between two teams that are yet to get going in the IPL 2024. The five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have not started well under new captain Hardik Pandya. They have struggled and lost all three games on the trot. They are in desperate need of a win.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals (DC) have two points from the only win they had against CSK. But apart from that, they have lost three games and are coming off a heavy defeat against KKR. So they also need a win coming into this game. These two teams will face off against each other on Sunday at Wankhede Stadium.
MI vs DC: Head-to-Head
These two teams have played 33 games in the IPL until now. Mumbai Indians have registered wins in 18 games, and Delhi Capitals have ended 15 games as winners. In the last five games, DC have won three and MI have won two.
MI vs DC: Top five player battles to watch
1. Rohit Sharma vs Khaleel Ahmed
We all know the weakness of Rohit Sharma against a quality left-arm pacer and that was witnessed in last game as well when Trent Boult dismissed him for a duck. Rohit will be up against Khaleel Ahmed in the game game, who has looked in good form in the IPL 2024 so far. He is swinging the ball away and in to right-handers, and that will be a good battle. Khaleel has already dismissed Rohit once in the IPL, and the former MI captain has only scored 25 runs off 34 balls at a strike rate of 73.5 against him.
2. Rishabh Pant vs Jasprit Bumrah
Another big battle will be between two Indian stars. The DC skipper, Rishabh Pant, who has been in good form so far, will be up against MI’s trump card, Jasprit Bumrah. MI have used Bumrah mainly in overs after 4 or 5. It is also when Pant comes to bat. Bumrah has enjoyed bowling against this left-hander. Notably, he has dismissed Pant 6 times in the IPL, where the DC skipper has only scored 48 off 43 balls.
3. David Warner vs Gerald Coetzee
David Warner has been in great form, and he is giving DC good starts from the top. And that is what his team will expect from him on Sunday. But he will be facing fiery South African pacer Gerald Coetzee. It will be a good contest between two aggressive characters. Coetzee likes to be in the face of the batters, and Warner will not give him an inch to come up. They will be up against each other for the first time in the IPL.
4. Suryakumar Yadav vs Axar Patel
Suryakumar Yadav is fit and is likely to make his first appearance in the IPL 2024 in the coming game against DC on Sunday. He will be eager to get the bat in his hand and score some runs. But he will be against his Indian teammate Axar Patel, who knows very much about him. These two have played with each other a lot and know each other very well. Axar has dismissed SKY once in the IPL, and the batter has scored only 53 runs off 61 balls, at a low strike rate of 86.9.
5. Hardik Pandya vs Anrich Nortje
The MI skipper Hardik Pandya will have a lot to do in the game. He will like to do well with the bat and the ball. But his batting will be very crucial in the middle in the case of some early wickets. However, he will have to face the pacy Anrich Nortje, who can rattle any batter and is very effective. Nortje has already dismissed Hardik once in the IPL, but the MI captain has also scored 42 off 26 balls against him at a SR of 161.5.
