Top five player battles to watch out for in PBKS vs CHE match No. 53 in IPL 2024
Match No. 53 of the IPL 2024 will be a PBKS vs CHE clash to be played on Sunday afternoon.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will play their second consecutive game in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 in a gap of four days. The last game was played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, which PBKS won pretty easily. The coming match will be held at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
CSK are fifth on the points table with ten points. They need to win three out of the four remaining matches in the league stage to qualify for playoffs. Meanwhile, PBKS need to win all four remaining games. Hence, a defeat here will make the situation even worse.
PBKS vs CSK: Head-to-Head
PBKS and CSK have played a total of 29 matches against each other in the IPL. CSK are marginally ahead with 15 wins, compared to 14 victories for PBKS.
PBKS vs CSK: Top five player battles to watch out for
1. Ruturaj Gaikwad vs Arshdeep Singh
The CSK captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, has been in red-hot form and is scoring runs in almost every game. He will be a massive wicket as the batting revolves around him. He even scored a fighting 62 in the last game against PBKS. But, Arshdeep Singh has enjoyed bowling against him. He has dismissed him three times in the IPL, including in the last game. Gaikwad has scored 55 off 44 balls against him so far.
2. Shivam Dube vs Kagiso Rabada
Shivam Dube registered a duck in the last game against PBKS. But he is too good of a player to fail in consecutive games. He has been in phenomenal form this season, striking the ball nicely. He can be very effective in Dharamsala and can take on bowling. But Kagiso Rabada will be very difficult to face. Rabada has bowled 27 balls to Dube and dismissed him two times, conceding 33 runs.
3. Jonny Bairstow vs Richard Gleeson
Jonny Bairstow has shown great intent in the last couple of games for PBKS, and the century against KKR has increased his confidence. He will be looking to take on CSK once again, and the pitch in Dharamsala might suit his batting style. But CSK will hope that they can get him out early with the new ball. Richard Gleeson did trouble him in the last game with his swing, and he will become more dangerous in Dharamsala, which will offer pace and bounce.
4. Rilee Rossouw vs Ravindra Jadeja
Rilee Rossouw played a pretty good innings in the last game and scored 43 off 25 balls. He will be pretty confident on the bouncy pitch in Dharamsala, where he can play his shots. However, Ravindra Jadeja will be one bowler who will be bowling at him in the middle overs. Jadeja has dismissed him once already in the IPL in 17 balls, conceding only one boundary.
5. Shashank Singh vs Matheesha Pathirana
Whether PBKS bat first or second, Shashank Singh will be a key player for them. The 32-year-old has shown great maturity this season and has scored runs in pressure situations. That is why he is the leading run-scorer for his team. But he will have to face Matheesha Pathirana in the death overs and his technique will surely be tested against the CSK star.
