Match No. 37 will be a PBKS vs GT game to be played on Sunday in Mullanpur, Mohali.

The race for the playoffs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 has intensified as the teams in the middle of the points table are very close to each other. It looks like the NRR will be a big factor in the end. Rajasthan Royals (RR) are at the top with 12 points, but all other teams still have a chance.

The second game of Sunday’s double header will be played between two teams that are fighting for a place in the next round. Punjab Kings (PBKS) will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in Mullanpur. A win here is very important for both teams. But fans will be treated to some great player battles.

PBKS vs GT: Head-to-Head

The upcoming game will be the fifth match between Punjab Kings and Guajrat Titans in the IPL. Before this game, these two had won two games each in the IPL.

PBKS vs GT: Top five player battles to watch

1. Shubman Gill vs Kagiso Rabada

The GT captain Shubman Gill will be the biggest wicket on Sunday because he is in good form and has been scoring runs consistently. Gill will be tested when he is against Kagiso Rabada. The South African quick has dismissed him 3 times in international cricket. In the IPL, he has dismissed Gill twice, and the batter has scored 69 off 52 balls against Rabada.

2. Sai Sudharsan vs Harshal Patel

Sai Sudharsan is the second-best batter for GT in the ongoing IPL 2024 after Gill. The left-hander has been scoring runs and contributing with some crucial partnerships in the middle. It will be interesting how he will deal with the PBKS bowling attack. Harshal Patel dismissed him when they faced each other last time earlier this season. He has gotten out against Harshal once in six balls and scored seven runs.

3. Rilee Rossouw vs Rashid Khan

Jonny Bairstow has been in poor form, which is why PBKS gave Rilee Rossouw a chance against MI. But he got a brilliant ball from Jasprit Bumrah, which was an exceptional delivery. He is expected to get another chance in PBKS vs GT clash. But he will be up against Rashid Khan, who has dismissed him various times. These two have come up against each other many times. Rashid has dismissed the left-hander four times in 53 balls, and Rossouw has only scored 50 runs at a strike rate of 94.33.

4. Sam Curran vs Mohit Sharma

In the absence of Shikhar Dhawan, a lot will depend on stand-in captain Sam Curran. The left-hander opened the innings in the last game but got out in an unlucky manner. He will look to do well this time around and might look to bat in the middle order. Notably, Mohit Sharma has troubled him in the IPL. He has bowled nine balls to Curran and given away just three runs with one dismissal. Mohit’s different types of slower ones make him a difficult bowler.

5. Liam Livingstone vs Noor Ahmad

We all know how dangerous Liam Livingstone can be on his day. He is among the best strikers of the ball. But, he hasn’t performed as well as he would have liked and will be under a bit of pressure. But against GT, he will be put under more pressure when Noor Ahmad bowls at him. The leg-spinner has bowled five balls to him and has dismissed him twice. That will be in Livingstone’s mind when he comes out to bat in the middle.
