3 players who could replace Jasprit Bumrah at India if he is ruled out of the SL vs IND Test

Jasprit Bumrah, as per reports in Times of India, has been ruled out of SL vs IND Tests.
India are all set to begin the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, with the first game scheduled to start on August 15 in Galle. It will be an important game for skipper Shubman Gill and his team as this series will be part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27.
Most of the core players have retained their spot in the squad, with Ravindra Jadeja returning after being rested for the one-off Test against Afghanistan. Young off-spinner Saransh Jain has also got his maiden Test call-up while Washington Sundar remains unavailable for the opening Test due to a hamstring injury.
However, the biggest concern is the fitness of Jasprit Bumrah. The fast bowler has been included in the squad, but his participation depends on getting clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). The selectors have made it clear that they do not want to take any risks with his fitness.
As per the reports in TOI, Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out before the series. This means that India will need another fast bowler to strengthen the pace attack alongside Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar. Here are three players who could replace Bumrah in the squad.

3. Mukesh Kumar

Mukesh Kumar is amongst the experienced option the selectors could consider if they want someone who already understands the conditions. The Bengal pacer has previously represented India in Test cricket and has impressed with his performance in domestic competitions.
Mukesh has continued to perform in the Ranji Trophy and remains one of the key options in the selectors’ minds. While he may not get the same pace as Bumrah, his accuracy and experience could help India if they need an experienced replacement.
2. Mohammed Shami

If Jasprit Bumrah is ruled out, the selectors could consider bringing Mohammed Shami into the squad because of the experience he brings to the table.
With India set to play in Sri Lanka and a relatively young pace attack around Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar, the team management may prefer an experienced bowler if Bumrah is unavailable. Shami’s presence would also give captain Shubman Gill another bowler who can perform well in pressure situations.
1. Auqib nabi

Another player who could get a late call-up is Jammu & Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi. The young bowler has an excellent record in domestic cricket and also got an opportunity in the India A setup.
Nabi finished as the highest wicket-taker in the recent Ranji Trophy season, taking 60 wickets in just 17 innings. He also impressed during the India A tour of Sri Lanka by picking up six wickets while maintaining good line & length.
