List of players banned from PSL after opting to play in IPL

So far, three players have been banned from the PSL after opting to play in the IPL.
The India vs Pakistan rivalry is not just limited to international cricket. The PSL vs IPL debate also remains a topic of discussion among fans and experts. The discussion was triggered after some players expressed their opinions on which league was better.
Moreover, the schedules of the Pakistan Super League and the Indian Premier League often clash every year, forcing overseas players to choose between the two leagues.
IPL, the richest franchise T20 league in the world, is known for awarding handsome contracts. As a result, a few players have withdrawn from PSL tournaments to participate in the IPL.
The move backfired as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) enforced a ban on them for their actions. Here we take a look at the list of players who were banned from the PSL after opting to play in the IPL.
Players banned from PSL after opting in IPL-
3. Corbin Bosch

In PSL 2025, South Africa all-rounder Corbin Bosch was a diamond category pick for Peshawar Zalmi. However, he withdrew from the tournament to join the Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2025. He was picked as a replacement for Lizaad Williams.
The move did not go well with PCB, who served him a legal notice for breach of contract. They eventually handed him a one-year ban, preventing him from participating in PSL 2026.
2. Blessing Muzarabani

In February this year, Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani was expected to join Islamabad United as a replacement player. However, he chose to participate in IPL 2026 instead. He was offered a contract by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to replace Mustafizur Rahman.
As a result, the PCB handed him a two-year ban from PSL. In his defence, Muzarabani stated that he did not sign an official contract with Islamabad United to participate in the league.
PCB admitted that no formal contract was signed, but maintained that the ban was justified as he had a verbal agreement with the team.
1. Dasun Shanaka

Sri Lanka all-rounder Dasun Shanaka was bought by Lahore Qalandars in the PSL 2026 auction for PKR 75 lakh in February. However, he withdrew from the tournament in March and later joined Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2026 as a replacement for injured Sam Curran.
He was offered INR 2 crore in IPL. As a result, PCB banned him from the tournament for one year, which will restrict him from participating in the next season.
