Top 9 players who have played most IPL finals

Only one player has played than more 10 IPL finals.

Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed 18 editions since its inception in the year 2008. Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians (MI), and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are the three most successful teams in the tournament. Only these three teams have multiple titles in their kitty.

While CSK and MI have won five trophies each in the tournament, KKR have won the title three times. If we look at players with the most IPL title wins, Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu top the chart with six trophies each. However, neither of them has played the most number of IPL finals in the tournament.

If we talk about teams, CSK and MI have played the most IPL finals. While the Super Kings have played IPL finals 10 times, MI have reached the finals in six seasons. Hence, many of their players have also played in the finals on most occasions. Only one player has played IPL finals more than 10 times. On that note, let’s glance at the top nine players who have played the most finals in the IPL.

9. Rohit Sharma – 6

Former MI skipper Rohit Sharma has played six finals in his IPL career. The opening batter led MI to five IPL titles in the 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 seasons. He also played the final in the 2009 edition with now now-defunct Deccan Chargers team. Interestingly, Sharma has won every IPL final he has played.

8. Kieron Pollard – 6

Former MI all-rounder Kieron Pollard also played the final on six occasions. Pollard has played all the finals with the Mumbai Indians. He was part of the team from the 2010 to the 2022 seasons. He won five trophies with MI from 2013 to 2020. Pollard was part of the runners-up MI team in the 2010 edition.

7. Hardik Pandya – 6

All-rounder Hardik Pandya has also played six finals in the IPL. He played four finals with MI from the 2015 to 2020 editions. Later, he also featured in two finals with Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 2022 and 2023 editions. Out of six appearances, Pandya was part of the winning side five times.

6. Dwayne Bravo – 7

Former CSK all-rounder Dwayne Bravo played seven IPL finals. He was part of CSK from the 2011 and 2022 seasons, except for the 2016 and 2017 editions when he represented the Gujarat Lions. Bravo played all seven IPL finals with the CSK between the 2011 to 2021 editions.

5. Ravichandran Ashwin – 7

Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also featured in the finals on seven occasions. However, Ashwin has played the final with three different teams. Ashwin played five IPL finals with CSK. He also played in the final with Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2020 season and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 2022 edition.

4. Ambati Rayudu – 8

Ambati Rayudu was part of the two most successful teams, CSK and MI, during his entire IPL career. He represented MI from 2010 to 2017 editions and later played for CSK from 2018 to 2023 seasons till his retirement. He played in four finals with the Super Kings and four finals with MI. He was part of six title-winning campaigns in the IPL, which is the join-most by any player.

3. Suresh Raina – 8

Former CSK stalwart Suresh Raina also played in eight finals in the tournament history. The left-handed batsman was a member of CSK from 2008 to 2021, excluding the two editions (2016 and 2017) when the Chennai-based franchise was suspended from the league. He played all his IPL finals with CSK from 2008 to 2019 editions.

2. Ravindra Jadeja – 8

Another CSK legend, Ravindra Jadeja has played eight IPL finals. Jadeja has spent his major part of IPL career with CSK. Jadeja played eight IPL finals with the Super Kings. He played one final with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 2008 season.

1. MS Dhoni – 11

CSK stalwart MS Dhoni steals the top spot on this list with 11 appearances in the IPL finals. Interestingly, as a team, CSK have played the most number of 10 IPL finals, however, Dhoni has played one more final than CSK. The wicket-keeper batter has played 10 finals with CSK. He also played one final in the 2017 season with the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant.
