IPL 2026: All players who continued to play despite not being fit

Multiple players continued to play despite injuries in IPL 2026.
The 2026 campaign of Indian Premier League (IPL) is currently in its last stretch, as the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), have already reached the final, while Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face each other in Qualifier 2 for a spot in the summit clash.
For nearly two months, the matches in the T20 league took place regularly with a tight schedule. At times, players also didn’t get enough time to recover from exhaustion from previous matches, which naturally results in injuries.
While a few players were ruled out due to injuries during the tournament, a few decided to continue playing despite fitness concerns. In this article, we will take a look at the players who continued to play despite not being fit.
All players who continued to play despite not being fit in IPL 2026
1. Jasprit Bumrah

Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene revealed earlier this season that top Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah already had fitness issues before the IPL 2026 campaign started.
Additionally, he continued to be a part of the Mumbai Indians playing line-up even after the five-time champions were eliminated from the top four. As per reports, Bumrah was suffering from a knee niggle that required attention; however, he continued to play.
2. Varun Chakravarthy

Indian spinner and Kolkata Knight Riders star Varun Chakravarthy also played with a hairline fracture. The KKR captain, Ajinkya Rahane, later claimed that Chakravarthy received a green flag from the medical team. However, during Kolkata’s final league game against the Delhi Capitals, Chakravarthy reportedly played with discomfort.
3. Riyan Parag

Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag, who also missed a game due to a hamstring issue, revealed that he is not match fit after the inaugural champions defeated the Mumbai Indians in their final league game. Parag also played against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the eliminator, but his footwork was affected by his injury.
4. Arshdeep Singh

Punjab Kings’ Arshdeep Singh also played games with restrictions, as revealed by Punjab Kings Head of Sports Science Andrew Leipus. The Indian fast bowler played despite fitness concerns as he’s PBKS’s prime pacer.
5. Rohit Sharma

Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma also suffered hamstring issues throughout the campaign. Unlike Jasprit Bumrah, he was given more than a week’s rest and then played as an impact player.
Did Jasprit Bumrah suffer an injury in the IPL 2026?
No, Jasprit Bumrah was injured before the season started.
Why did Varun Chakravarthy play the final match of the group stage for KKR despite injury?
Varun Chakravarthy played the match because KKR still had the chances to qualify to the top 4 in case RR lost. However, Rajasthan won.
