Top 5 players with most ducks in IPL ft. Rohit Sharma

Glenn Maxwell tops the list with the most ducks.
Every season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) sees new records being created with both bat and ball. From bigger totals and record-breaking individual scores to incredible spells and economical overs from bowlers, the most exciting T20 league in the world provides no shortage of drama, action, and entertainment.
However, not all records are ones to remember. Some records haunt players as they go on to show the duality of the modern game. In pursuit of quick runs, batsmen are forced to forget their personal records. One such record includes most ducks, which shockingly features several quality batters.
While luck can sometimes play a role, it also goes on to show why cricket is such a difficult sport when things are not going your way.
Which player has the most ducks in IPL history?
Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has the most ducks in IPL history. So far, he has been out without scoring any runs 19 times in the Indian Premier League.
Players with the most ducks in IPL-
| Rank | Players | No. of ducks |
| 1. | Glenn Maxwell | 19 |
| 2. | Dinesh Karthik | 18 |
| 3. | Rohit Sharma | 18 |
| 4. | Sunil Narine | 17 |
| 5. | Rashid Khan | 16 |
5. Rashid Khan – 16 ducks

Rashid Khan is one of IPL’s greatest bowlers and is quickly climbing the ladder for most wickets in the league’s history.
Apart from his bowling, Rashid is also a dangerous pinch-hitter lower down the order, capable of providing the role of a finisher and landing some huge maximums with his unique batting style. The Afghanistan icon often comes to bat when there are very few overs left, and he must make every ball count.
Hence, he tries to hit every ball out of the park more often than not, which has led to him getting dismissed for a duck 16 times. However, teams will not mind this record, as Rashid more than makes up for it with his bowling.
4. Sunil Narine – 17 ducks

Sunil Narine is an IPL legend and remains one of the toughest bowlers to face in the T20 format. His longevity has been incredible, and batters still fail to understand his variations.
However, his contribution to KKR is not limited to bowling. He has also played a crucial role in batting at the top of the order, mainly in their third title-winning edition.
Narine’s job is simple: to smash every ball to the boundary fence and make the powerplay count. He doesn’t waste balls and hence gets out cheaply many times. The West Indies all-rounder boasts a strike rate of 167, the highest in this list despite his 17 ducks.
3. Rohit Sharma – 18 ducks

Rohit Sharma is a legendary cricketer and arguably the greatest captain in IPL history. However, his batting has never really set the stage on fire since 2015. Sharma has been unable to produce big seasons for MI with the bat, and this has never caught the attention of fans, primarily due to his superb captaincy.
Opening for MI, Sharma has often fallen to left-arm pacers who manage to swing the new ball. His 18th duck came against CSK at Chepauk in IPL 2025. With at least one more season awaiting him in MI colours, Sharma could potentially top this list by the end of the 2026 edition.
2. Dinesh Karthik – 18 ducks

Another surprising name in this list is Dinesh Karthik. DK played a total of 257 matches for various IPL teams, with the most recent being for RCB before retirement. He holds this unwanted record because of his difficult batting order; he had to play aggressively from the very first ball.
Having played so many matches, usually at No. 5 or 6, the wicket-keeper often has no time to settle in the crease. He went through several dips in form at the fag end of his career, as a result of which he recorded 18 ducks.
1. Glenn Maxwell – 19 ducks

Glenn Maxwell tops the list for most ducks with 19. The Australian all-rounder has been an inconsistent performer in the IPL and has rarely justified his hefty salary.
Apart from the sensational 2014 season for Punjab and a few decent years later for RCB, Maxwell struggled to live up to the hype for either team.
His inconsistency and often blind slogs at the start of his innings frustrated franchises and fans alike. After another poor outing in IPL 2025, the Aussie did not register himself for the 2026 season, opting for PSL instead.
