West Indies defeated Zimbabwe in their first game of the Super 8 Round in the T20 World Cup 2026.

West Indies began their stint in the Super 8 round of the T20 World Cup 2026 with a huge victory against Zimbabwe. In the 44th match of the tournament on Monday (February 23) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Shai Hope & Co. outplayed Zimbabwe by 107 runs.

After being asked to bat first, West Indies batters showcased their mayhem against Zimbabwe bowlers, smacking a mammoth total of 254/6. Shimron Hetmyer rocked the field with his quickfire 85 runs off 34 balls, hitting seven sixes and an equal number of fours.

Rovman Powell (59) supported him with his half-century, while Sherfane Rutherford (31* off 13) made a crucial contribution towards the end.

Zimbabwe lost the plot in the chase at the start itself, losing three wickets at the score of 20 runs. Before reaching 100 runs on the board, six of their batters returned to the dugout.

Spinner Gudakesh Motie picked a four-wicket haul to dismantle Zimbabwe for 147 runs. Akeal Hosein played a key role in bowling by taking three scalps.
