WPL 2026 Points Table, Most Runs & Wickets after Match 8, MI-W vs UPW-W

Harleen Deol helped UPW-W to register their first win of the WPL 2026.

Cricket is a great leveler, and a prime example was seen in match 8 of WPL 2026 between UP Warriroz and Mumbai Indians on Thursday at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. Harleen Deol, who was forced to retire on Wednesday against the Delhi Capitals, was awarded the Player of the Match award against MI-W.

Harleen played a counter-attacking knock for her team and took UPW-W to their first win of the season, that too against the defending champion. The game started with Meg Lanning winning the toss and putting MI-W to bat first.

MI-W tried a third opening combination in the fourth game. Amanjot Kaur (38 off 33) was promoted to the top. G. Kamalini (5 off 12) looked rusty. MI-W were struggling at 45/2 in 8.3 overs, scoring less than six runs per over. Nat Sciver-Brunt, who missed the last game, scored her second consecutive fifty.

She scored 65 off 43 and added an 85-run stand with Nicola Carey (32 off 20) for the fifth wicket as MI-W scored 161/5 in 20 overs. Chasing the score, UPW-W also had a slow start as Meg Lanning (25 off 26) and Kiran Navgire (10 off 12) looked tentative. UPW-W were 45/2 in 6.5 overs.

After that, it was only Harleen’s show. She played some brilliant shots through the offside, and her timing was spectacular. She finished with an unbeaten 64 off 39 balls, at a strike rate of 164.10, and Chloe Tyron played a good cameo of 27 off 11, as UPW-W reached 162/3 to record their first win of the season.
