IPL 2026 Points Table, Orange Cap & Purple Cap after match 44, CSK vs MI

Punjab Kings take the top spot in the points table after the 44th match of IPL 2026.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by eight wickets in the Indian Premier League 2026 on Saturday, May 2, at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. CSK chased down a 160-run target like a walk in the park.
After opting to bat first, the Mumbai Indians struggled to post a respectable total. Opener Will Jacks lost his wicket for just 1 run. However, Ryan Rickelton (37) and Naman Dhir (57) gave a blistering start to the batting, reaching 57 runs in the powerplay.
MI’s middle-order batsmen failed to provide support once again, losing wickets cheaply at regular intervals. Anshul Kamboj picked 3 while Noor Ahmed took 2 scalps to restrict Mumbai to 159/7.
In the chase, CSK lost Sanju Samson cheaply for 11 runs, but captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (67*) scored a spectacular unbeaten half-century. Young star Kartik Sharma (54*) hit his first IPL fifty to bring the team home by eight wickets in just 18.1 overs. Gaikwad was awarded Player of the match.
