“My partnership with Jasprit Bumrah is going well”- Prasidh Krishna eager to continue the combination
Prasidh Krishna picked four wickets in two T20Is for India against Ireland.
Young India fast bowler Prasidh Krishna made his comeback after almost a year in the recent T20I series against Ireland, along with Jasprit Bumrah, who was injured for 11 months as well, and led the Men in Blue to a 2-0 series win.
Prasidh Krishna had last played for India in an ODI against Zimbabwe in August 2022 and was then diagnosed with a stress fracture in his back. Though he tried to avoid surgery with rehab and physiotherapy, the lanky Karnataka pacer had to undergo surgery as a last resort.
Talking about his comeback to the Indian team, Prasidh Krishna told JioCinema: “I’ve had a long time off. Now that I’ve had ample time to prepare, everything has fallen into place mentally as well. It’s been at least six weeks that I’ve been bowling, and during this time, I’ve been contemplating the game extensively analyzing my bowling, identifying areas of improvement, and considering what new things I can bring to the team.”
“I think the performances have been good. In terms of how I feel, I’m running well, and I’m able to express myself out there. I believe that’s the most important aspect for me. However, there’s a lot more that I can do to get into the groove,” he added.
Prasidh Krishna, along with Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi, picked up four wickets in two T20I matches, having made his T20I debut in the first of the two T20Is India played while the third was abandoned due to rain.
I’ve always looked up to him because of his abilities: Prasidh Krishna on Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah also made his comeback to the Indian team after suffering a back injury that had kept him out of action since September 2022. He missed the T20 World Cup, the home Australia Test series, and the IPL 2023 as well.
However, he underwent surgery and returned in full flow, captaining the side against Ireland and winning the series 2-0.
Talking about his partnership with Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna said: “Personally, I’ve always looked up to him because of his abilities and the way he keeps it simple. His knack for executing under pressure is something I’ve admired for a long time. Fortunately, I had ample time to be alongside him during our recovery period at the NCA. It was often us working together, sticking to a planned approach.
This gave us the opportunity to learn more about each other—how we prepare and how we respond to in-game situations. It’s been a valuable experience. He’s also been supportive, whether it’s discussing cricket, mental aspects, or rehabilitation concerns. Our partnership is going great, and we’re eager to continue it.”
Both Bumrah and Krishna will next be seen in Asia Cup 2023 as Indian team is having a prep camp in Bengaluru.
