We are all set for the high-profile test series between South Africa and India to start. Boxing Day test between the two teams will take place at the SuperSport Park in Centurion, which will start shortly. The rain made everyone wait for the toss, as it has been delayed beyond its scheduled time.

Ahead of the toss, there was big news that came from Indian camp. The star pacer Prasidh Krishna will be making his test debut in the Boxing Day test. The 27-year-old has already represented India in ODI and T20 formats and will now be playing his first test. He was been handed over his maiden test cap by India’s vice- captain Jasprit Bumrah.

Prasidh Krishna to make his Test debut in the first SA vs IND game in Centurion

The conditions in Centurion are overcast, and it has been a pacer-friendly wicket, which is why India are going in with 4 seamers. Veteran pacer Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the series due to injury, which is why Praisdh Krishna got his chance.

Notably, during the break ahead of the toss, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid also hinted at Prasidh’s debut. In the interaction on Star Sports, Dravid said, “Prasidh is a promising prospect, but we have to be realistic that this is his first Test match. He hasn’t had a lot of first-class cricket to fall back on because of a number of reasons. But I’m hoping he has a good game and enjoys himself.” Rohit Sharma also confirmed at the toss and said, “We are playing with four seamers and a spinner. Prasidh is making his debut.”

The pacer has played 17 ODIs and taken 29 wickets at an average of 25.59. In 5 T20Is, he has taken 8 wickets. He is a good pacer who gets good bounce because of his height and can bowl at a good speed of over 140 km/h, which will give the team another wicket-taking option. Meanwhile, South Africa also have two debutants. Nandre Burger and David Bedingham are playing their first tests.
