Prithvi Shaw joined Maharashtra ahead of 2025-26 domestic season.
Prithvi Shaw scored a century for Maharashtra in his debut match for the team. The right-handed batsman slammed a century against Chhattisgarh in the Buchi Babu Trophy 2025. The tournament is underway in Chennai and is being hosted by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA).
Notably, Shaw parted ways with Mumbai team ahead of 2025-26 domestic season and joined Maharashtra to start a fresh journey in his career. Last year, he was dropped from the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad due to fitness issues and also went unsold in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction.
Shaw was picked in Maharashtra squad for Buchi Babu Trophy 2025. A total of 16 teams are part of the tournament, which is being played over different venues in Chennai. Scoring a century in his debut game for Maharashtra, Shaw commenced his new journey in domestic cricket on a positive note.
Scoring 100 for Maharashtra feels special- Prithvi Shaw

Shaw said that he feels special after scoring his first century for Maharashtra. He also added that he looks forward to replicating this form in Ranji Trophy tournament.
âWe played at obviously Chepauk, really good experience. I think itâs a really great tournament, before the Ranji season it happens. And Iâm playing for the first time, I just played my first game, playing my first gameâ, he said.
âThis is my first game for Maharashtra. Scoring 100, it feels really special. I hope this thing continues till Ranji Trophy and whatever the upcoming matches come for Maharashtra. And itâs a good experience because all the state teams come together before playing the Ranji Trophy. And you get a very good practice before the season startsâ, he added.
Notably, Shaw rescued Maharashtra in the encounter with his century as they lost a few wickets in quick succession in the top order. He reached his century in 122 deliveries with 14 fours and one six. The team is led by Ankit Bawne.
Meanwhile, 16 teams are part of Buchi Babu Trophy 2025 are TNCA Presidentâs XI, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Railways, Jammu & Kashmir, Baroda, Odisha, TNCA XI, Mumbai, Haryana, Bengal, Hyderabad, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand.
