Punjab Kings donate INR 33.8 lakh to support flood relief efforts in Punjab in a massive heart-warming gesture

Punjab Kings have launched a fundraising campaign to raise Rs. 2 crore.
Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings (PBKS) have come up with a heart-warming gesture for the people of Punjab amid the floods in the state. The Shreyas Iyer-led side has announced Rs. 33.80 lakhs for flood relief. The franchise has partnered with Hemkunt Foundation and Round Table India in their “Together for Punjab” campaign, aimed at helping people in flood-hit areas of Punjab.
The franchise will also help in providing inflatable rescue boats for the evacuation of stranded families, medical emergencies and delivery of essential relief supplies, including clean drinking water.
Moreover, they are also launching a fundraising campaign on Ketto to raise Rs. 2 crores by September 15. The funds collected will be donated to The Global Sikh charity, which will utilise them for rebuilding the lives of flood-hit families.
Punjab Kings join flood relief efforts in Punjab

In an official statement released on X (formerly Twitter), the franchise revealed its steps to join flood relief efforts in Punjab.
“The Indian Premier League franchise Punjab Kings has partnered with Hemkunt Foundation and Round Table India as part of their ‘Together for Punjab’ campaign to support the flood relief efforts across the flood hit districts in the state of Punjab. As part of their efforts, Punjab Kings will help the organisations with donation worth Rs. 33.8 lakh,” the franchise wrote on X.
Meanwhile, Punjab is currently facing its worst floods in decades. About 40 people have lost their lives, while over 3.5 lakh people have been affected. All 23 districts in Punjab have now been declared flood-affected.
More than 1000 villages in the state have been affected by the floods, which were triggered by intense rainfall in Punjab as well as neighbouring states in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
Rescue operations are underway, and over 11,000 people have been evacuated to safer areas with the help of the Army, NDRF, BSF, and local authorities.
