Punjab will commence their journey in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 with a clash against Maharashtra.

Punjab announced a star-studded squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. Indian Cricket Team players like Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, and Arshdeep Singh have been named in the squad. However, they have yet to name their captain for the domestic one-day tournament.

While Gill, Abhishek, and Prabhsimran Singh form a formidable batting unit for the side, Gurnoor Brar and Krish Bhagat will lead the pace attack. Naman Dhir, Anmolpreet Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Sanvir Singh, and Harpreet Brar will be a few prominent all-rounders for Punjab in the tournament.

Gill has been included in the Punjab team after his exclusion from the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. However, he will captain the Men in Blue in the ODI series against New Zealand next month.

Moreover, Abhishek and Arshdeep are part of the T20 World Cup squad and the T20I series against New Zealand. Hence, their availability in the Vijay Hazare Trophy is not clear due to their commitment to the national team.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy is scheduled to commence on December 24, with a total of 32 teams competing for the trophy. The final will take place on January 18, 2026.

All these teams are divided into four groups: A, B, C, and D. Punjab are placed in Group C and will play their opening game against Maharashtra, scheduled to take place on December 24 at Anantam Ground in Jaipur.
