Watch: Rachin Ravindra visits his grandparents' house in Bengaluru

Rachin Ravindra has scored 565 runs in 9 innings in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Rachin Ravindra, the New Zealand opener, recently visited his grandparents in Bengaluru. Born to Indian parents in Wellington, New Zealand, Ravindra’s name is a tribute to two of India’s cricketing legends – Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.
He’s been in town for the past week, as the Chinnaswamy Stadium hosted New Zealand’s final two league matches before the 2023 World Cup. The Kiwis were defeated by Pakistan on November 4, but they beat Sri Lanka convincingly on Thursday to move closer to a semi-final position.
Rachin Ravindra has been outstanding for New Zealand. He is now the tournament’s highest run-scorer, having scored 565 runs in nine matches and playing an important role for the Blackcaps.
Rachin Ravindra spoke about his Indian heritage during a recent press conference, revealing that he is now 100% Kiwi. He did, however, express delight at returning to India and performing well in the country where his parents were born and bred.
He said: “Oh, well, I think, I’ve been asked this question a lot, but I guess I’m 100% Kiwi and I’m very proud of my Indian heritage. But I guess it’s proud to be able to do it in the country where my parents were born and where they grew up and where a lot of my family is.”
“I think, obviously the conditions, it’s good for batting and being able to come to India previously on tours and trying to not perfect my game but I try get better. I guess that that helps in a way. As a kid, you always dream of the crowd chanting your name and it was cool to see them do that on multiple occasions. So, I think it’s always special, you sort of soak in those moments and hopefully we never really take them for granted,” he added upon being asked about playing in India.
Rachin Ravindra’s grandmother performs a ritual to ward off evil on him
New Zealand have almost confirmed their spot in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 semi-final and most probably will play India on November 15 in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Ravindra took full advantage of being in Bengaluru for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 matches and visited his grandparents who still live in the city. In a video on social media, Ravindra can be seen in the house of his grandparents, sitting on a sofa, while his grandmother performs a ritual to ward off evil. He doesn’t want his parents in a care home.
