Legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid‘s second stint as head coach of the Indian cricket team is all set to end after the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June.
Dravid first became the head coach in November 2021. He signed a contract with the BCCI for a two-year term. However, his contract ended after India suffered a heartbreaking defeat against Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 final.
Then, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to offer him an extension until the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and Caribbean Islands.

However, in the Asia Cup 2023, Dravid-led India won their first major trophy by defeating Sri Lanka in the final. Then, India played in the ODI World Cup 2023, where they lost to the Aussies in the final.
Rahul Dravid unlikely to reapply for the position of the Indian cricket team head coach
Recently, BCCI secretary Jay Shah opened up that that the board is set to invite applications for the role of Indian men’s team head coach. However, the board has kept the doors open for Dravid if he wishes to reapply for head coach.
“We cannot determine whether the new coach will be Indian or foreign. It will be up to the cricket advisory committee (CAC),” Shah told reporters in Mumbai.
As per the latest report in the Times of India, Dravid, whose tenure will come to an end after the T20 World Cup 2024, isn’t going to reapply for the post of head coach.
