[Watch] RCB bowler Rajan Kumar receives MS Dhoni's autograph on his jersey number '7'

Rajan Kumar received MS Dhoni’s autograph following the IPL 2024 opener between CSK and RCB.

MS Dhoni’s fandom is not limited to the non-cricketing public of India and overseas as well. He is also revered by other cricketers, and this fan following was seen during the IPL 2024 opening match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Chennai on Friday.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bat first. He got the squad off to a great start, scoring 35 in 23 balls with eight fours. However, after his dismissal at the hands of Mustafizur Rahman, RCB suffered a minor collapse.

Rahman took 4/29 as RCB were reduced to 78/5, with Kohli hitting 21 and Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell getting out on ducks. Anuj Rawat (48 in 25 balls) and Dinesh Karthik (38*) contributed 95 runs for the sixth wicket, bringing RCB to 173/6 in 20 overs.

In response, Rachin Ravindra provided CSK a flying start with 37 runs in 15 balls, including three fours and three sixes. Ajinkya Rahane (27 off 19 balls) and Daryl Mitchell (22) kept the runs coming.

Cameron Green dismissed both batters, bringing RCB back into the game. But Ravindra Jadeja (25* in 17 balls) and Shivam Dube (34*) contributed 66* runs for the fifth wicket to help CSK win with 8 balls remaining and 6 wickets in hand.

MS Dhoni signs RCB’s Rajan Kumar’s number 7 jersey after CSK-RCB match

After the match, RCB players visited the CSK dressing room and RCB pacer Rajan Kumar had his dream come true of meeting his idol Dhoni. Rajan plays for Uttarakhand in the Indian domestic circuit.

He made his debut in 2022 and thus far has played 2 FC matches, 9 List A matches and 13 T20 matches, taking 37 wickets.

Meanwhile, a video has gone viral on social media. Rajan Kumar, who also sports number 7 on his jersey for RCB, is getting his jersey signed by MS Dhoni in the dressing room.
