Rajasthan Royals have got their two lowest totals in the IPL against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Going strong with their batting in the IPL 2023, Rajasthan Royals have stunned everyone against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Jaipur. Rajasthan Royals registered their 2nd lowest and Indian Premier League’s 3rd lowest total in history. With 6 batters going back in the dugout contributing mere 3 runs, the Royals could only manage to score 59 runs while chasing 172 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium against RCB. The Royals had been a brilliant batting unit and they have fired all along the season, but Sunday’s performance took everyone by surprise. In a virtual knockout game, Royal Challengers Bangalore have bettered their NRR and position in the playoff race after winning by 112 runs against Rajasthan Royals.

Royal Challengers Bangalore still hold the lowest score record in the IPL. They got all out on just 49 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in the IPL 2017. Rajasthan Royal have the two lowest totals in the list of the top 5. Coincidentally, both of the Royals' lowest totals came against RCB. In the IPL 2009, the Royals got bundled out on just 58 against RCB in Capetown, after that on Sunday they could only manage to score 59 runs in their innings. Recently in the Big Bash League, Sydney Thunder got all out on just 15 runs score against Adelaide Strikers in just 5.3 overs. Currently, the Isle of Man hold the record of scoring the lowest total in T20 cricket. Spain got Isle of Man all-out on just 10 runs.

Top 5 Lowest Completed Totals In IPL:

5 - DD - 67 vs KXIP, IPL 20174 - DD - 66 vs MI, IPL 20173 - RR - 59 vs RCB, TODAY2 - RR - 58 vs RCB, IPL 20091 - RCB - 49 vs KKR, IPL 2017

Chasing 172, Royal got a poor start as their star opener Yashaswi Jaiswal was out without scoring on the second ball of the Royals' innings. Soon after, Jos Buttler departed on duck in the next over. This opened the doors for RCB to put Royals under pressure and better their net run rate. Wayne Parnell picked up 3 wickets in his 3 overs and conceded just 10 runs. After Buttler’s wicket Royals collapsed and registered their 2nd lowest score in the IPL. If Shimron Hetmyer would not hit 35 off 19 balls, the Royals would have made a new record against RCB. Hetmyer(35) and Joe Root (10) were the only two players who scored in double digits.
