Indian Premier League 2026 will commence on March 28, and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will play their first match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The encounter will be played on March 30 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
The Royals are set to witness a fresh journey under the newly appointed captain, Riyan Parag. He was promoted as the full-time captain after Sanju Samson’s ouster from the team. The latter has joined CSK through a massive trade deal.
Moreover, senior Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and England star Sam Curran have joined Rajasthan as exchanged players for Samson. Parag will have the challenging task of leading his team to their second title.
Rajasthan won the inaugural edition in 2008 but have never managed to win the title again. In the 2022 edition, they ended as runners-up under Samson’s captaincy.
Last season, Royal gave a humiliating performance, winning just four games and losing 10 out of 14. They ended in the ninth spot in the points table.
In the mini-auction, Royal bought spinner Ravi Bishnoi and pacer Adam Milne. They bought nine players in the auction and have retained most of their players.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, and Ravindra Jadeja are a few key batters in the RR squad. In the bowling department, Jofra Archer, Sandeep Sharma, Adam Milne, Nandre Burger, and Ravi Bishnoi are prominent names.
