Ranji Trophy 2023-24 to be played from 5th January 2024 to 14th March 2024

Saurashtra are the current Ranji Trophy Champions; they defeated Bengal in previous edition final.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Ranji Trophy’s 89th edition schedule on Sunday. India’s premier domestic tournament Ranji Trophy is set to be played from 5th January 2024. The tournament will be played for around two and half months and the Final will be played on 14th March 2024 just a few weeks before the Indian Premier League season 17. IPL 2024 is likely to begin around the first week of April. Saurashtra are the current Ranji Champions as they defeated Bengal in the final of the previous edition. Saurashtra have been dominating the Ranji Trophy tournament for the last few seasons.
The Defending champions Saurashtra have been kept in Group A of the Elite round, while the runners-up Bengal are in the Group B of the Elite round. Four elite and one plate groups have been created as per the previous season’s standing. Nagaland, Hyderabad, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh have been placed in the Plate group. Along with Saurashtra, Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, Services, and Manipur are the teams in Group A.
Ranji Trophy 2023-24 Groups:
Elite Group A: Saurashtra, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Haryana, Services, Manipur
Elite Group B: Bengal, Andhra, Mumbai, Kerala, Chattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Bihar
Elite Group C: Karnataka, Punjab, Railways, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Gujarat, Tripura, Chandigarh
Elite Group D: Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Baroda, Delhi, Odisha, Pondicherry, Jammu & Kashmir
Plate Group: Nagaland, Hyderabad, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh
Apart from Ranji Trophy, the T20 tournament, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be played in October and November. The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will commence on 16th October and the final will be held on 6th November. The Deodhar Trophy will be played right after the Duleep Trophy and will commence from 24th July to 4th August. While the 50-over tournament Vijay Hazare Trophy will be played after the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the 50-over season will commence on 23rd November, the final will is set to be played on 14th December before Ranji Trophy.
