Rashid Khan picked three wickets against England in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match.

Ace Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has thanked the spirited Delhi crowd following his side’s historic win against England in the ongoing World Cup. Afghanistan beat the defending champions by 69 runs, they registered second win in the history of the World Cup.

Rashid took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank the crowd for rooting for the team against England at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the capital city of India.

Rashid’s tweet read, “Delhi sach mein dil walon ki hai. A huge thank you to all the fans at the stadium who supported us and kept us going through out the game. And to all our supporters around the world, thank you for your love.”

Afghanistan’s spin trio of Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Rashid were the key architects behind the famous win. Earlier in the day, Rahmanullah Gurbaz took Afghanistan to a competitive total of 284, hitting a blistering 80 off 57 balls. The win will give Afghanistan a lot of confidence going into the remaining games of the tournament.

"We were very close there (the Asia Cup), but we were not winning those games, which was disappointing to the players because they were working very hard and at the end they were ending on the wrong side. They were not getting the right kind of energy or boost. This win will give us a lot of energy for the rest of the competition. Now we have the belief that we can beat any side at any time." Rashid told Star Sports after the match.

The outcome has certainly made the standings interesting as Pakistan, England, and Afghanistan look to fight for the spot in top four. On the other hand, hosts India are at the top of the points table right now with three wins, followed by New Zealand, who have also snapped three victories so far.
