Ravi Ashwin is India’s second-highest wicket taker in test cricket after Anil Kumble.

Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin achieved a huge milestone during first test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai. Ravi Ashwin surpassed West Indies legendary pacer Courtney Walsh to become the eighth highest wicket-taker in the longest format of the game.

The 38-year-old Ashwin reached this huge feat by dismissing all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan during the first session of day 4 of first of the two-match series between India and Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on September 22.

Legendary seamer Courtney Walsh took 519 wickets at an average of 24.44 in 132 test matches he played.

Among active cricketers, Ashwin is just behind Australia’s spin wizard Nathan Lyon, who has 530 wickets to his name. The record of taking most wickets in test cricket is in the name of Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan. The legendary spinner finished his test career with 800 wickets.
