The ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 is still more than a year away, but preparations for the marquee event have already begun for all the teams. The Indian Cricket Team will be playing several ODI series to finalise their probable squad for the tournament in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Experts have already started predicting the players who could be on the flight to Africa to represent the Indian team on the biggest stage.
Ravi Ashwin, who was part of the Indian team that lifted the 2011 Cricket World Cup and also featured in India’s 2023 World Cup campaign, where the team finished as runners-up, has predicted India’s squad for the 2027 Cricket World Cup.

According to him, there will be no place for star players like Rishabh Pant, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, and others, while he was certain that Bhuvneshwar Kumar should be part of the Indian squad.
Speaking in a video posted on ESPNcricinfo’s YouTube channel, Ashwin backed Bhuvneshwar Kumar to be part of India’s squad for the 2027 Cricket World Cup. Explaining his reasoning, he said:
“Bhuvneshwar Kumar is a yes. I would communicate to him. Get him to play all the tournaments, first-class, Vijay Hazare, everything, and get him primed going to South Africa. I think we will need him there.”
