Ravi Ashwin was bought by CSK for INR 9.75 crore in the mega auction.

After announcing his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday in Brisbane, Ravi Ashwin arrived at his residence in Chennai on Thursday amid much fanfare. He got a grand welcome from his family and friends in Chennai with a band, cheers and flower garlands.

Reacting to such a huge welcome, Ashwin said he felt like after he’d arrived home from winning the 2011 World Cup.

“I never thought so many people will come here. I just wanted a quiet entry, and was looking forward to relax at home. But you have made my day. have played Test cricket for so many years, but the last time (I saw something) like this was after the 2011 World Cup,” Ashwin said.

In the press conference after the drawn Gabba test, Ashwin announced his retirement from India colors, after serving the team for 14 years.

He made his ODI and T20I debuts in 2010 and test debut in 2011. Ashwin finished his career as India’s second-highest wicket-taker in test and international cricket, behind Anil Kumble on both tallies.

Will Ravi Ashwin play for CSK in IPL 2025?

Yes. While retired from international cricket, Ashwin confirmed that he will play for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) “for as long as I can.”

Ashwin was bought by CSK in the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 9.75 crore. He confirmed his participation in next year’s IPL, saying, “I think that part for me is still burning bright. I am going to play for CSK and don’t be surprised if I aspire to play for as long as I can. I don’t think Ashwin the cricketer is done, I think only Ashwin the Indian cricketer called time. That’s it.

Ashwin was with CSK from 2009 to 2015. He then played for Rising Pune Supergiant, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals and now returns to CSK.

The 38-year-old could also be seen turning up for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket and for Dindigul Dragons in the Tamil Nadu Premier League.
