Ravi Bishnoi becomes newly ranked no.1 T20I bowler after Player of Series performance against Australia
Ravi Bishnoi picked up 9 wickets against Australia.
India spinner Ravi Bishnoi became the new no.1 ranked T20I bowler in the world, replacing Rashid Khan of Afghanistan. This happened as ICC released the latest update to the T20I players’ rankings on December 6, 2023.
Lucknow Super Giants star was ranked No.5 last week and he has vaulted 5 spots to dethrone the Afghanistan spin sensation. Bishnoi was the Player of the Series as India defeated Australia 4-1 in the recently concluded T20I series at home.
Bishnoi was on top of the chart in wicket-taking list as took nine wickets in 5 matches. Bishnoi also equalled Ravichandran Ashwin’s record of most wickets by an Indian in a T20I series.
The 23-years-old Bishnoi (699 points) surpassed Afghanistan star Rashid Khan (692) to grab the top spot. Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga (679) is at No. 3. Adil Rashid of England and Maheesh Theekshana of Sri Lanka complete the top 5 T20I bowlers.
Suryakumar Yadav continues to be the no.1 ranked T20I batter; Ruturaj Gaikwad slips one place to 7
India’s stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav continues to be the No. 1 T20I batter. Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been able to maintain his place in the top 10 batters’ chart. However, he slipped from 6th spot to 7th spot in the latest update of ICC players’ rankings.
Gaikwad was the leading run-scorer in the series as he made 223 runs in 5 games. Gaikwad also hit a century in the series. Mohammad Rizwan, Aiden Markram, Babar Azam, and Rilee Russouw completed the top 5 of the ICC T20I batting rankings.
