Ravi Shastri also revealed his favorite moments of Jasprit Bumrah in the T20 World Cup 2024.

India’s right-arm speedster Jasprit Bumrah was the standout performer for his side in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June. The 30-year-old Bumrah was the second-highest wicket-taker for Men in Blue with 15 wickets to his name in eight outings.

Notably, Bumrah’s economy throughout the tournament was 4.17, which is the best among all bowlers, who bowled 100 or more deliveries in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Ravi Shastri compares Bumrah with Warne

Since winning the T20 World Cup 2024, Bumrah has been the hot topic in the cricketing world. Recently, former India head coach Ravi Shastri revealed his favorite moments from the World Cup.

Shastri said that Bumrah’s spells against Pakistan in the group game and in the final against South Africa were his favorite. The former cricketer also highlighted how the 30-year-old tilted the game in his team’s favour in both games.

“I think India-Pakistan because India was made to fight there and realise what the right combination should be going forward in the tournament. That and then, of course, the final, those final five overs [from the T20 World Cup final]. I’d say one was Jasprit [Bumrah] getting Mohammad Rizwan. Extremely crucial, because that could have tilted the balance of the game,” Shastri said in a chat with ICC.

Shastri further compared Bumrah with legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne and with the iconic Pakistani pace duo of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis.

“He just showed the world what it takes and you know, it’s not often in your career when you have a ball in your hand and you say, do this and the ball does that,” Shastri said of Bumrah.

“Very few have done it, I thought Wasim [Akram] and Waqar [Younis] had it in their prime when they played white-ball cricket. Shane Warne had it where he could literally tell the ball, go there, pitch there, hit leg stump,” Shastri added.
