Ravi Shastri was India’s coach in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 is scheduled to be played in October-November 2027; to be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Recently, ICC also declared the proposed structure of the tournament.

All the teams have started their preparations for the biggest cricketing event. The 50-over World Cup is organised every four years, and was last played in 2023 in India. Australia won that campaign, adding a sixth World Cup trophy to their cabinet.

The Indian Cricket Team is also gearing up for the tournament and the preparations are in full swing. It started with the ODI series against Afghanistan in June which India won 3-0. Following this, India played three ODIs against England, losing 2-1 to the hosts.

The series loss drew criticism from cricket pundits and fans, especially the team and squad selection for the ODI games was questioned. Former Indian head coach, Ravi Shastri too voiced his opinion in the matter, and listed a 15-member squad for the tournament in 2027.

During his tenure, India played the ICC World Cup 2019 where the team got knocked out after the semi-final. India lost to New Zealand in the semi-final, falling short of the target by 18 runs. His tenure was extended by two years in 2019. His stint ended with the 2021 T20 World Cup group stage exit.

Shastri has been a renowned Indian cricketer and was a part of the 1983 World Cup winning team. He now contributes to the sport with his voice, being one of the most highly-regarded commentators and presenters.
