Ravi Shastri throws support behind Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer as they lose BCCI central contract

Ravi Shastri also appreciated BCCI for introducing Fast Bowling contracts.

A few days ago, The Board of Control for India’s (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah dropped the news that all centrally contracted players must participate in domestic cricket unless they’re injured. If they sustain an injury, they are required to report it to the BCCI and NCA. This directive, announced by the BCCI, shows the significance of domestic cricket in the development and assessment of players. Moreover, it ensures that players maintain their competitive edge and remain actively engaged in the sport at various levels.

By mandating participation in domestic cricket, the BCCI aims to foster a culture of consistent performance and accountability among its contracted players. This proactive approach not only benefits the players individually by providing them with valuable playing time but also strengthens the overall cricketing ecosystem by promoting a robust domestic circuit. Thus, the announcement represents a bold move by the BCCI to enhance the quality and depth of talent in Indian cricket.

In a bold move, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has removed Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan from the yearly contract list. This decisive action is aimed at sending a strong message to those neglecting domestic cricket. The judgement stems from the persistent disregard shown by both players towards the strongly worded letter issued by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, urging all contracted players to actively participate in domestic cricket. Conversely, despite being sidelined due to an ankle injury and not having played any cricket since the World Cup, Hardik Pandya has been promoted to Grade A position.

To maintain high standards in fast bowling, the governing body has introduced contracts specifically for seamers. The selection committee has endorsed fast bowling contracts for Akash Deep, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Umran Malik, Yash Dayal, and Vidwath Kaverappa. This move aims to provide these talented bowlers with financial security and recognition for their contributions.

By implementing these contracts, the apex body seeks to nurture and incentivize the development of fast-bowling talent, ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled seamers for future competitions. This initiative reflects a proactive approach towards enhancing the overall quality and depth of India’s fast-bowling resources.

Ravi Shastri backs the decision of BCCI to set rules for the BCCI contracted players

Former head coach Ravi Shastri expressed his appreciation for the BCCI and Jay Shah’s initiative regarding the introduction of ‘Fast Bowling’ contracts. In his tweet, he applauded the move as a game-changer, particularly in preparation for upcoming matches Down Under later in the year. Shastri highlighted the significance of the emphasis placed on test cricket and domestic cricket, seeing it as a powerful message that sets the tone for the future of the sport.

His praise suggests that he sees these contracts as a positive step towards nurturing and promoting fast-bowling talent within the Indian cricketing ecosystem. Additionally, by focusing on test cricket and domestic cricket, Shastri indicates his support for a broader strategy that prioritises the development of players in these formats, recognising their importance in shaping the future success of Indian cricket on both domestic and international stages.

He tweeted: “Big applause to @BCCI and @JayShah for the game-changing move with ‘fast bowling’ contracts. A crucial step in gearing up for Down Under later this year. The emphasis on Test Cricket and Domestic Cricket is a powerful message, setting the right tone for the future of our beloved sport!.”

Ravi Shastri lends his support to Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer

Ravi Shastri extended his support to Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer after they were removed from the BCCI’s central contracts by emphasising the importance of comebacks in cricket. In his tweet, he encouraged both players to maintain a positive attitude despite facing setbacks, urging them to keep their heads up and face challenges with determination.

By acknowledging the players’ past achievements, he instills confidence in their ability to bounce back and succeed once again. His words serve as a source of motivation for Kishan and Iyer, reassuring them that their talent and potential remain intact despite the recent developments.

Shastri tweeted: “In the game of cricket, comebacks define the spirit. Chin-up, @ShreyasIyer15 and @ishankishan51! Dig deep, face challenges, and come back even stronger. Your past achievements speak volumes, and I have no doubt you’ll conquer once again.”
