Ravindra Jadeja completed 4000 test runs during the Kolkata test.

The first test between Indian Cricket Team and South Africa Cricket Team is currently underway at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bat first in the match, however, his decision turned out to be a blunder as the Proteas were bowled out for just 159 runs in the first innings.

On a pitch where spin has been dominating, Indian batters also struggled to get going and the onus was yet again on Ravindra Jadeja to bail his team out of trouble. He did that to some extent and during the course of his innings, he bagged an impressive record in test cricket. The veteran Indian all-rounder, who came out to bat at number six, scored 27 runs off 45 balls with three boundaries.

He was dismissed by Proteas spinner Simon Harmer as he got LBW in the second session on day 2. However, the 36-year-old bagged a rare record with his 27-run knock, becoming only the fourth all-rounder to achieve the feat in test cricket’s history.
