Ravindra Jadeja dropped an easy catch of Rachin Ravindra in Dharamsala.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had a spectacular day on the field against Bangladesh in Pune. He took a screamer at point to dismiss Mushfiqur Rahim. Jadeja is considered one of the finest fielders in world cricket at the moment. In a rare moment, Jadeja dropped an easy catch against New Zealand in Dharamsala, and he gave Rachin Ravindra another life in the first innings. Team India won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first.

Jadeja drops a rare catch

Kiwi number 3 Rachin Ravindra attempted to play a cover drive, but he failed to connect Mohammed Shami’s fuller length delivery. The ball went straight to Ravindra Jadeja, who was placed at point. It was a straight-forward catch, but Jadeja dropped an easy one. Rachin Ravindra has been a prolific-scorer for Blackcaps, and another life for him may prove a game-changing moment in the game. New Zealand lost two wickets in the first power-play.

Ravindra Jadeja won the ‘gold medal’ within the camp in the previous game, and he celebrated it in style. Earlier in the game, Shreyas Iyer took a screamer to dismiss Devon Conway. Team India got an early break-through when Devon Conway’s flick shot was caught at forward square leg by Shreyas Iyer. Iyer attempted a dive to his right to take a wonderful catch. Devon Conway was dismissed on duck.

T Dilip worked hard with players in Indian camp

India’s fielding efforts have been a talking point, except on few occasions where players have missed out on the opportunity. Ravindra Jadeja’s drop catch was one of those rare moments. T. Dilip, fielding coach of team India has done a magnificent job. He has raised the bar and created healthy competition among the players in Indian camp. Apart from catching, team India’s ground fielding has been magnificent.

Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell are taking New Zealand on a path to recovery. Mohammed Shami also made a solid comeback in the mega event and picked up a wicket on the first delivery he bowled. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first in Dharamsala. Dew will be a big factor later in the day, and spinners bowling in the second innings will have slight trouble gripping the ball. Suryakumar Yadav is making his World Cup debut.
