Ravindra Jadeja played a key role in India’s test series win over the West Indies.

Indian Cricket Team all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja shared his take on his performances in the test series against the West Indies Cricket Team. He was honest enough to admit that ever since Gautam Gambhir gave him clarity about his role, his mindset has changed.

One of the key reasons behind India winning the test series against the West Indies was Ravindra Jadeja. The Southpaw came up with an all-round effort in the game and helped the team win both games of the series by a massive margin.

In the first game in Ahmedabad, Ravindra Jadeja slammed have brilliant ton and then with the ball, he returned with a four-fer. In the second match in Delhi, he didn’t get a chance to bat, but made his presence felt with the ball, picking four wickets across two innings.

Jadeja, who scored over 500 runs in the England test tour, continued his form at home and lived up to the expectations. For his heroics with the bat and ball, he was awarded the Player of the Series award.

Talking about his performance in the series, Ravindra Jadeja cheekily mentioned that he got the chance to bowl more overs in the absence of Ravichandran Ashwin. He also lauded the entire team for playing quality cricket and also talked about the clarity given by the head coach. Speaking after the game, he said:

“I could get a chance to bowl more overs (after Ashwin’s retirement). But yeah, all in all, we’ve been doing wonderful work as a team, in terms of batting and bowling. I think we know what brand of cricket we’ve been playing over the last five, six months. So that’s a good sign as a team, that we continue to do it over a long period of time.

“As Gauti bhai (Gambhir) said, I’m at number six now. So I’m thinking more as a proper batsman, and that works for me. In the past, for many years, I’ve been batting at number eight, number nine, so my mindset was a little different from what I have now. I’m just trying to spend more time in the middle whenever I get a chance to bat.”

I just focus on contributing with both bat and ball to help my team win – Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja further added that he is only focused on contributing with both bat and ball. He admitted that if he doesn’t perform, it won’t reflect his value. He added:

“To be honest, I don’t think too much about records. I just focus on contributing with both bat and ball to help my team win. I always look forward to doing that. I feel if I don’t perform with bat and ball, then it doesn’t reflect my value as a player.

“I’m always keen and give my 100 percent. I think this is my third Man of the Series trophy, so yeah, I’m very happy to bring it back home.”

Ravindra Jadeja will be next seen in action when India will take on South Africa at home in the test series. He has been dropped from the ODI team, which will play three games in Australia.
