Ravindra Jadeja's wife Rivaba stirs fresh controversy; Claims Indian players indulge in vices during overseas tours

Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba Jadeja added that her husband does not indulge in any kind of vices.

Rivaba Jadeja, wife of Indian Cricket Team all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, has stirred a big controversy by claiming that Indian players indulge in various vices during overseas tours. She also gave a clean chit to her husband, saying that he has kept himself away from any addictions or vices on international tours.

Rivaba is also a BJP MLA from Jamnagar city of Gujarat. In the past, she has hit the headlines for her personal issues with Jadeja’s father and sisters. However, this time, she has made a huge remark against Indian players, talking about their actions while they are away from home.

Jadeja is considered among the best all-rounders to represent the national team across formats. Last year, he announced his retirement from T20Is but is active in the ODI and tests. The veteran Indian all-rounder also has the highest salary offered by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in their annual contracts, being part of the top A+ category.

Rivaba’s remarks have gained the attention of many cricket fans, with her video doing the rounds on social media platforms. Speaking in Gujarati at an event, she said that Jadeja has never engaged in any vices during his foreign tours. However, other Indian players indulge in such activities, as there are no restrictions from their families.

“My husband, the cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, has to travel to many countries like London, Dubai and Australia to play cricket. Despite this, to this day, he has never touched or engaged in any kind of vice, because he understands his responsibilities,” she said.

“The rest of the team all indulge in vices, but there is no restriction from their families. Once we progress in life, it’s important to be grounded and remember our cultural roots,” Rivaba added.

Back in 2016, KL Rahul was caught in a controversy for sharing a photo of himself with an alcohol bottle during a West Indies tour. He later had to delete the photo, with BCCI urging players to take extra precautions and follow moral responsibility while sharing such content online.

Last year, the Indian Government asked the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and BCCI to take measures to prevent sportsmen from indulging in surrogate advertising of tobacco and alcohol products. Earlier this year, some cricketers like Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan were also summoned for advertising for applications promoting sports betting among youths.

Meanwhile, Jadeja was traded in by Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their squad from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction, which was the biggest deal ahead of the next season.
