Virat Kohli scored a century against Gujarat Titans in RCB's last league match of the IPL 2023.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have failed to qualify for the IPL 2023 playoffs round. They needed to win their last league game against Gujarat Titans at M. Chinnaswamy. Despite Virat Kohli’s century, RCB failed to defend their 197 runs total. Shubman Gill's magnificent hundred overpowered Virat’s inning in the game. In the last 16 seasons of the Indian Premier League, RCB have failed to win the title. They have played the final thrice but have failed to win their crunch games more often than not. RCB once again faced a similar fate and were knocked out after losing against defending champions Gujarat Titans.

KP suggests Virat's move to Delhi

IPL’s star attraction, Virat Kohi is without an IPL trophy since he began his career with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the inaugural season. Former RCB batsman Kevin Pietersen has suggested that Virat switch his team in the league. Pietersen in a tweet suggested that Kohli should move to the capital city and his home turf Delhi. He tweeted, “Time for Virat to make the move to the capital city”. Delhi Daredevils had the chance to pick one among Pradeep Sangwan and Virat Kohli in the first-ever season of the IPL but they went ahead with Sangwan and Virat joined Bangalore.

Out of 16 seasons, RCB played in the IPL, they have qualified for the playoffs 8 times. They went on to play IPL finals thrice and lost all of them. In 2009 they lost to Deccan Chargers, In 2011 they lost to Chennai Super Kings, and in 2016 they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL finals. RCB despite having a great team, especially a dominating batting order have failed to get the trophy in their hands. Virat Kohli has also captained RCB for 9 seasons and RCB played one final under his leadership in 2016 and qualified for playoffs 4 times.
